Sykes Assistance Services Corporation (SASC) is excited to announce that we were one of four organizations that were recognized by receiving the Central Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Chairman’s Award for our contributions to the development, launch, and implementation of the 1-844-HERE4ME palliative care crisis line. Recipients were chosen based on their contributions to projects that improve the health care system and patient experience with an emphasis on Innovation through Collaboration.
The 24/7 Palliative Care Health Line is a telehealth service to assist patients and families with palliative care issues and end-of-life support. A Sykes registered nurse is available 24/7 with access to a patient’s electronic health record to connect patients to health care teams, provide support for physical and emotional changes, and address equipment issues or other concerns.
The goal of the Central LHIN is to create a strong, sustainable, and seamless hospice palliative care network that provides a high level of support, improves access to palliative care, and increases awareness of palliative care best practices among health care providers.
“At Sykes Assistance Services we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with the LHIN, the Southlake Regional Health Centre and The Central Community Care Access centre in such an innovative and vital project. To have been recognized for our efforts was an unexpected bonus”; said Adam Jones, Director of Client Relations at Sykes Assistance Services and a member of the team that supported the implementation of 1–844-HERE4ME.
The Central LHIN praised the partners in the project stating: “This health service is the first of its kind across Ontario LHINs, and an important connection for palliative patients and their families to receive urgent palliative care. It could not have been possible without your contributions to innovate and collaborate.”
