Assistance Services Group is committed to and bound by applicable provincial legislation including, but not limited to, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (AODA). While our AODA policy is specific to the Province of Ontario, Assistance Services Group is committed to taking every possible step to meet the needs of the communities in which we work and the customers and clients for which we provide services regardless of where they live in Canada.

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act,  2005 (AODA) is a bill passed by the Ontario legislature. This bill consists of 5 different standards which are being targeted in stages.  These standards are as follows:

  • Customer Service
  • Information and Communication
  • Employment
  • Transportation
  • Building Environment

The Customer Service Standard stands alone and the remaining four standards – Employment, Information and Communication, Transportation, and Building Environment – constitute the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). To read more about our approach to AODA and to read our five year plan please see the documents available for download on this page. If you have any questions regarding our policies or the plan please contact us at ASGaccessibility@foundever.com.

How AODA Applies to the Web Site

Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, all private and non-profit organizations with 50 or more employees and all public sector organizations will need to make their websites accessible. Assistance Services Group is pleased to design this site so that it meets World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level A. To meet this requirement we have implemented the following strategies:

  • We have provided alternative text for all of the images on the site so that they may be interpreted by screen reading applications
  • We have designed and then tested the colours for the site and the fonts to ensure that we have the proper contrast to support easy viewing and reading
  • The site has been developed for ease of use on a number of different devices (e.g.. PC, tablet, mobile phone) and within a number of browsers (e.g.. Windows Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox etc)
  • The site has been designed to support navigation using your keyboard
  • We have avoided any use of animation or flashing fonts or images
  • We do not require people to fill in Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart (CAPTCHAs) forms to download our content
  • We have attempted to make it clear where links lead especially when they take the user to another site

Navigation Tips
